1. The first question you should ask yourself is, "Why do I want to buy a flat television?"

If your answer is: "Because I don't have room for a cathode ray tube set."...

...the answer is: "Yes, buy a new flat television, Plasma or LCD."

If your answer is: "Because I need to fit the television up on the wall."...

...the answer is probably: "Yes, buy a new flat television, Plasma or LCD."

If your answer is: "Because I want digital television."...

...the answer is probably: "No! Buy a digi-box (or set top digital receiver) for about £30."

Don't add to the destruction of the environment by trashing a perfectly good television.

If your answer is: "Because I want a better picture."...

...the answer is definitely: "No! Do not replace your cathode-ray tube (CRT) television with L.C.D. or Plasma."

The picture resolution on a conventional cathode-ray television is far superior to any 'flat' television. The picture definition is better on a L.C.D. or Plasma television, but definition does not give a better picture.

High Definition (or H.D.) improves L.C.D. and Plasma pictures, but does not, as yet, make the picture quality as good as a conventional C.R.T. television
